More about this update
The new loading spinner component
Our loading spinner was designed based on the Bootstrap model used in the Queensland government's Single Website Experience (SWE). The choice to adopt this design stems from a few key considerations. Firstly, the decision was guided by our principle of leveraging established and proven design patterns that have been tested and in this case that users are already familiar with. Secondly our review of the spinner found it to be lightweight, accessible, and easily incorporate. Additionally its unobtrusive visual design works well with other elements, like our line style iconography and that it's unobtrusive appearance ensures that it complements rather than distracts from the other content on the page.
The new file upload component
The file upload component is commonly used within form layouts and allow users to select one or more files to upload to a specific location, it is also sometimes referred to as a drop zone as it support the ability for users to drag files into the region to be uploaded.
This design is based on patterns developed by the myQLD project and existing examples from the Agriculture and NSW design system. The design tries to maintain visual consistency with the existing Queensland government designs, it has only been updated where it needed to align more closely to the existing form components or where we found it differed from best practice in a comparative review.
